Market Research and Business Development
The attorneys at Shook Doran Koehl LLP help our clients identify government business opportunities and succeed in government contracting. We leverage our partners’ combined more than 50 years of procurement law and government marketing experience to provide strategic advice and support to help companies develop business opportunities with the Federal government. Our attorneys are able to help both new government-market entrants as well as existing government contractors looking to expand their government marketplace presence. Our specific experience includes identifying government market sales opportunities and helping clients prepare well-written, technically and legally compliant proposals in response to government request for proposals (RFPs). We are also able to identify and assist in the implementation of various strategies for small businesses to optimize both government prime contracting and subcontracting opportunities. Where appropriate, we work with our network of lobbyists and industry consultants to achieve the most efficient and successful results possible for our clients.
Our attorneys have worked with companies in numerous industries in surveying the government marketplace. Our government marketplace analysis projects include:
- An assessment of our client’s competitors and their government customers and government market penetration;
- The different types of available contracts and contract programs, pilot programs and contracting methods;
- An assessment of our client’s prospects for participating in the General Services Administration (“GSA”) and Department of Veterans Affairs (“VA”) Federal Supply Schedule (“FSS”) Multiple Award program, the government’s largest contract program for commercial item acquisitions;
- The identification of potential GSA and VA FSS contract partners;
- The identification of recent, large contract awards for items that are the same or similar to our client’s items; and
- The identification of specific next steps to engage and expand federal business.
